Accounting Clerk
The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for providing accounts payable support, cash receipts processing, and some financial reporting in the accounting department.
The Accounting Clerk will receive and input (data entry) invoices, manage purchase order system, review and process coding and completeness of invoice packages (invoice/check request/purchase order/appropriate approval signatures) and submit to Staff Accountant for review, prepare checks and invoices for signature, mail accounts payable checks and file invoices, and answer vendor and staff inquiries with regards to invoice payments. The Accounting Clerk will also process all cash receipts, including cash, credit cards, and checks, for Oceana in North America, file bank deposit receipts with backups, input deposits into Solomon (on date of deposit), and reconcile revenue reported on revenue logs and reports to PayPal and bank deposits to ensure all transactions are accounted for. The Accounting Clerk will also maintain and reconcile all employee liability accounts, including corporate credit card expenses and employee advances, on a monthly basis, and present weekly reports to management on cash receipts and accounts payables
This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with occasional overtime required. This description is not all inclusive and the candidate will perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have completed coursework in accounting equivalent to AA. The candidate must possess excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment and ability to work independently. Solomon skills are preferred. The candidate must possess energy, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to learn, be detail-oriented and extremely focused, and have the ability to take initiative in suggesting ways to augment work and responsibilities of position to accomplish Oceana’s goals.
