Go Green Expo
Mark your calendars for NYC's inaugural Go Green Expo. In case you haven’t heard, the Go Green Expo is launching New York City's largest environmentally-focused consumer expo to date. This special event will educate, entertain and enlighten attendees on the variety of eco-friendly alternatives available today. If you're in the Big Apple, come by and check it out.

There will be more than 200 booths showcasing organic food and wine, home and office products, health and beauty supplies, energy alternatives and the latest cars and transportation. All weekend, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of seminars and workshops hosted by notable environmentalists including Oceana’s very own CEO, Andy Sharpless.

Go Green Expo - New York, NY April 26-27, 2008
Most people left the expo with a huge bag filled with pamphlets, brochures, magazines and a wide variety of product samples. I find a degree of irony here; this is an eco-friendly show that distributes more paper than you could collect from four months of junk mail. Did some people miss the point of the expo?
Also all attendees received a re-usable bag, (I wonder how many recipients will use theirs again?) It’s made from polypropylene though, which is a totally unnatural non-woven material. I’m thinking that this isn’t the most recycled material known to man – BIG NOTE to Expo organizers to opt for a more eco-friendly recycled and/or sustainable material next time!
I think that The Go Green Expo was an excellent start. Many of the attendees were already an educated eco-conscious audience. This expo will need to find ways of luring in not-so educated individuals.
