Communications Intern
Oceana, an international ocean conservation group, has an opening for a full time paid internship in the North American communications dept., beginning in mid-late August 2009.
Successful applicants will have a college degree, good computer and organizational skills. Attention to detail is essential. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
The job responsibilities include help with outreach to policymakers through the mainstream press and bloggers. The job also requires significant administrative work, such as online research and writing, building targeted media lists, and tracking and recording news coverage of Oceana’s campaign work.
You will contribute to Oceana’s efforts to slow the effects of climate change on marine environments, work to restore a ban on new federal leases for offshore drilling for oil and gas, and prevent mercury contamination of fish. Any previous experience working on environmental issues will be a plus.
